New reviews of Atmospheric Shifts engage the community

London-based online art journal Centred.ca has commissioned three remarkable reviews of the exhibition Atmospheric Shifts at McIntosh Gallery from January 16 to May 16, 2026. Working with Curator Helen Gregory, Centred.ca invited second-year Chemical Engineering student and hail research intern in Western’s Faculty of Engineering Julia Martin; Department of Visual Arts Museum and Curatorial Studies student Duke Baker; and poet Tom Cull to provide their own distinctive responses to the exhibition.

These texts are the first series in a project supported by the London Arts Council, which will see commissioned reviews of exhibitions at three local art institutions—McIntosh Gallery, Museum London, and Forest City Gallery—during the coming year. The project will de-center the traditional review format and highlight diverse perspectives, new voices, and unexpected review formats, making art accessible to a broader audience and adding richness to London’s vibrant arts milieu.
